Ponds Cold Cream Moisturizer Dry Skin

With too many roles for woman to juggle in today’s fast paced, high pressured lifestyle, there is very little time for her to pamper herself.

With tension, worries, anxiety and age, the skin become less active leaving it drier, fragile, prone to wrinkle, lines near the eyes and mouth and losing the youthful colour and glow.

Failure of oil glands failing to release enough oils to moisturize and protect the skin results in dry skin. Environmental causes like dry air, harsh wind, hormonal imbalance, usage of aggressive chemicals, cosmetics or excessive bathing with harsh soaps saps the moisture from the skin making it dryer, flakier and chapped during winter.

Caring for Dry Skin

- Cleanse and Moisturize: The dry skin should be cleansed with a cold cream and alcohol-free skin fresheners to remove the cream. After cleansing, the skin needs a lubricating emollient or a moisturizer when the face is damp after the wash.

- Splash your face with cold water or gently wipe the skin with rose water to tone the skin nicely.

- Avoid using highly alkaline soaps and detergents like washing sodas and powders.

- Avoid the sun, harsh winds and hot baths. Use oil-based creams and make-up products only. Use soft towels or wash cloth to avoid irritation to the skin while wiping it.

- Smoking deprives the skin of oxygen and nutrients it needs for good health making the skin dry and leathery.

- Chapped or cracked skin - increase consumption of water. Keep chapped areas well lubricated and protected from the elements using a good nourishing cream or moisturizer.

- Use creamy, mild, pH-balanced products such moisture based cream gels, lotions, etc for dry skin care.

A well balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds and nuts provides the body with all the necessary vitamins and minerals needed for healthy skin. Drinking water and reducing solar exposure to a minimum is also beneficial. Garlic, onions, eggs and asparagus help to keep the skin smooth and youthful. Carrots, apricots, rich in vitamins A, C keep the skin supple. Increase intake of foods like leafy raw green veggies, dairy products like yoghurt, milk. Lessen fried foods, soft drinks, sugar, chocolates, junk foods, alcohol, caffeine and other foods that have diuretic effecting causing the body and skin to loose fluids, vitamins and essential minerals.

  1. QUESTION:
can i use ponds cold cream as a moisturizer for everyday use?
so i ran out of my moisturizer and the only i have left is my ponds cold cream for normal to dry skin can i use it as moisturizer for everyday use?! please and thanks best answer gets 10 points !

    • ANSWER:
Not really, as it is too greasy. I also do not think it is a non-comodogenic product (prevents the start of blackheads). Most of your high end moisturizers state this on the label.
Cold creams are more for removing make-up and a little bit left on over night is fine if washed off in the morning.
Sorry if Como.....is spelled wrong, went to beauty school a long time ago!

  3. QUESTION:
Can cold cream cause damage to your dry face skin if used every day? (facial, moisturizer)?
i have very, very dry/sensitive skin and i've been using pond's cold cream for the past several days which has been doing wonders but i was curious about any side effects (i.e. free-radical damage, excessive dryness afterwards, etc). i'm about to try just regular baby oil. also, i heard you can make your *own* cold cream so i plan on making some without borax/sodiumBorate. does anyone know where i can find beeswax in local retail stores? thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Cold cream is perfectly safe for you. I have combo skin and experienced my first bout of severe dryness after using Noxzema. My mom gave me some of her generic cold cream. After only a few days uses, the dry skin healed, I had no breakouts, and I got compliments on my skin. I use it twice a day and go at least one day using organic high fat yougurt in the morning instead of cold cream. Be sure to gently wipe the cream off with a washcloth instead of just rinsing it.

As for making your own, it is not worth it. The simple, basic cold cream is time-tested. To make it yourself requires cost, experimentation, etc. Just go for convenience. The borate stuff is nothing to worry about.

Oh, and avoid baby oil. It's not even good for babies.

Is Pond's Cold Cream safe to use every day (moisturizer, face)?
i have very, very dry facial skin and i'm trying to get it back to normal but Cold Cream and Petroleum Jelly are the only two products that work well for me so i'm curious if these 'emollients' are good to use every day for dry skin. any feedback would be very, very helpful. thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Girlfriend, you've gotten a lot of misleading advice on here...

You should know that cold creams are not moisturizers and are used to remove makeup, but, they don't thoroughly remove all the impurities and environmental aggressors at that. The best thing for removing makeup is to thoroughly cleanse your face followed by a toner, every morning and every night before bed. And last by not least apply a moisturizer (this protects your face from more dirt and oil). What is your current skin regime?

I personally used to use Ponds every night before bed and it's not the best, not even for it's purpose. I now know better. I use and love BeautiControl's M.R.P (maintenice, repair and protection) approch to skin care. My skin is super soft! BeautiControl's skin care is simply the best, just ask me why! And by the way BeautiControl has been around since 1981...

      LifeCell

I recommend (from what I know about you so far) for your specific issues: Cell Block-CĀ® P.M. Cell Protection (It's like a cold cream but, so much more) http://www.beautipage.com/Catalog/skin_defenders.asp & a really good moisturizer, like SkinlogicsĀ® Moisturizer (for those whose skin is acting in it's 20's). http://www.beautipage.com/Catalog/daily_oily.asp

BeautiControl has skin care for everyone's idividual skin needs. If you have acne-prone skin there's a skin care set for that and if you have very sensitive skin (your skin gets easily reddish) there is skin care set for sensitive skin too. To get even the best results out of your skin regimen, I highly recommend selecting the best BeautiControl skin care regimen set for your skin needs. E-mail me and I will help you!

  9. QUESTION:
    Skin care suggestions?
I'm a figure skater, and I think all the cold and wind is affecting my skin. It's pretty red and has random darkish dots. I took a picture:

    http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq285/peachymanatee/asdfawe.jpg

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to take care of my skin?
I currently use Pond's cold cream as a cleanser and Pond's dry skin cream as moisturizer.

    • ANSWER:
I would suggest using Murad Facial care products. As an ice hockey player, I get a lot of exposure to cold winds and general cold. I always use Murad and it definitely helps out.
Mosturize in the morning AND at night, and put on two layers of mosturizer before you go skating, and put on lots of lip balm.
      Exfoliate.
      A LOT

  10. QUESTION:
How to get rid of dry skin patches?
I have very dry skin. I use moisturizer mostly in the day time, sometimes at night. After I shower or bathe, my face becomes really dried out and pale, which is when the patches arrive on my face. They appear mostly around my nose and cheeks. I use Pond's Cold Cream for my moisturizer. Since the cold cream doesn't have a pump, could it be that dipping my hand in and out of the jar is unsanitary or could it be that I don't apply water to my face before applying the moisturizer? Maybe both. Any suggestions should help and thanks to those who will be willing to answer these questions for me.

    • ANSWER:
      Try a different moisturizer.

My dermatologist recommends straight petroleum jelly because it's non-comodogenic (won't clog pores) and is the best at keeping your skin moist. It will feel greasy though right after application. Aveeno also makes some good traditional ones.

Also be sure you are applying your moisturizer as soon as you get out of the shower (before you open the door) as the job of the moisturizer is to 'lock in' the water and humidity from your shower.

  11. QUESTION:
Simple make up/skin care products for teens?
I'm just looking for recommendations on simple makeup products for someone who isn't looking to go broke. I'm 16 & I hardly make bank, haha. Cover everything from foundations (liquid or powder, it doesn't matter) to blush & to bronzers even ! Any drugstore type of make up would be alright. But if there is something else worth the cost (at mac, or sephora, etc), I'll try going out of my way to go buy it.

PS , I do have pretty much combination skin -- dry cheeks, oily nose & then the rest of my face is normal. I don't want anything that would make me break out like crazy though.
OH! & skin care products .. for my type of skin .. help me out? I've been trying to look for the right skincare products (cleansers & moisturizers) like Aveeno & Ponds cold cream , but they haven't been working. Don't recommend any Clean & Clear either, because those definitely didn't work. If anything, it made my skin even worse. Pleaaase, help me out!

  12. QUESTION:
Pond's products - face cleanser and moisturizer?
Anyone use Pond's facial products, the cold cream, cucumber cleansing, or dry skin cream? Does it work well for you?

    • ANSWER:
I use the plain classic cold cream. I use it at night to remove eye and face makeup. I rinse it off with water and then use an astringent. It does leave a bit of residue though. It works well in my opinion. Pond's has been around for ever and people always talk about how great their stuff is.

  13. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
Sounds good! I would wash my face and put on witch hazel in the morning, as well. Steaming opens the pores and makes it easier to get the dirt and oil that cause blackheads out.

  14. QUESTION:
Good skin car routine - acne?
I'm really prone to acne on my checks and forehead. I've always had a problem with it and they leave huge scars.

I have talked to my dermatologist and he told me to try benzaclin, pacnex wash, and yaz pills to help the acne.

Is this a good skin care routine?

    - wake up - wash face with pacnex 7% benzoyl peroxide wash
    - apply benzaclin to pimples. let it dry for ten minutes and then put on neutrogena face clearing makeup foundation and powder on top of it - my acne looks really obvious without it!
    - after school, use ponds cold cream to remove makeup - wash face
    - apply clean and clear oil free moisturizer
    - night - wash face with pacnex again - apply benzaclin and take yaz pill

during the day if my face gets oily, i use those clean and clear oil absorbing sheets.

Best cleanser and moisturizer for an 11 year old?
Okay i currently use clearasil as my cleanser not for acne (i don't have any) but just to cleean my face. anyways, lately, i've been noticing that my face has been really dry and tight and gets worse after my figure skating practice (cause well, it's cold on ice) so i started to use my mom's moisturizer (she said its fine) which my the way is Pond's cold cream (the blue one) but that just made my skin greasy. so my point is, what is a good cleanser and moisturizer for 11 year olds. Please don't suggest stuff like biore, clinique or that harsh stuff for adults. Thnx lots
    hopefully a moisturizer with SPF?
oh and something that will not clean out my wallet and is easy to find at a drug store like shopper's drug mart.

    • ANSWER:
Clean & Clear Daily Moisturizer. It is in a white & blue bottle, you can get it for a couple dollars at Walmart or any drugstore. It doesn't make your skin oily, and it moisturizes. I think it has SPF, too. :)

      Hope I helped!

    • ANSWER:
maybe you could be using products that are too strong and it is causing an allergic reaction? I have really oily skin too so every time my face feels oily i just go rinse it with some water and nothing else. You should also try washing your hair more frequently because thats a huge cause of acne. Or it could be your makeup? If nothing works it could jsut be your genetics, have you asked your parents if they had problems with acne? Sometimes there just isn't much you can do :/
