When it comes to anti-aging moisturizer use is extremely important. But, there are some common moisturizers that you should avoid and some less common ones that you should look for. Read on to learn all about them.
Petrolatum is, by far, the most common ingredient in lotions and creams. Its the same thing as petroleum jelly. It does not moisturize, because it does not penetrate. It can help prevent diaper rash, because it prevents moisture from entering the skin.
Mineral oils are simply liquid petrolatum. They should not be included in anti-aging moisturizer, because with regular use they cause excessive dryness, destroy the natural pH balance and inhibit the bodys natural ability to create new skin cells and fibers.
Petrolatum and other oils derived from petroleum byproducts are not similar to the skins own sebum. It is the sebum that provides natural moisture and protects the skin from damage.
On the other hand, some vegetable and plant oils are very similar to human sebum, so they are very moisturizing. Similarly, waxes from plants help to prevent moisture loss and some of the oils and waxes balance sebum production, so that the skin is neither too dry, nor too oily. Theres your solution for combination skin-types.
For the body, men and women can use the same anti-aging moisturizer. The best ones contain numerous moisturizers, vitamins, antioxidants and other nutrients that promote the production of fibers and cells.
Ingredients to look for include:

Protein peptides, because the skins layers are actually a tightly woven mesh of amino acid proteins.
Coenzyme Q10 and natural vitamin E in an ultrafine solution that can penetrate deeply to stop free radical formation.
Wakame kelp, because it blocks enzymatic activity that lowers the skins protein levels.
Honey, because it is naturally healing, has antioxidant, antibacterial and antiseptic activity.
Olive oil, because it most closely resembles sebum.
Jojoba oil, because it balances sebum production, evening out the dry and oily patches.
Grape seed oil, because of its antioxidant activity and its essential fatty acids. It has been shown to reduce stretch marks, which are in actuality similar to wrinkles.
Vitamin B5 because it provides natural protection from the sun and enhances the tanning process.
Both men and women should use a daily anti-aging moisturizer on their face, but their needs are a bit different. Men tend to have excessive redness and inflammation. Women may have some inflammation, but since they dont shaver their faces, they have less irritation.
Many of the ingredients are the same as the ones you would use on your body to what you would use on your, for men, there are a couple of others that relieve burns from razors, as well as overexposure to the sun. Instead of using after shave lotion, use an anti-aging moisturizer that contains capuacu butter and witch hazel.
For women, a special passion fruit extract makes the skin feel soft and velvety while balancing sebum production, so it works really well under make-up. The use of anti-aging moisturizer is very important, but only if it contains the right ingredients.

Most skincare products are fine to use, just stay away from the ones containing Retinol-A. I use the same mosturizer you do (minus the foudation part).

anti aging moisturizer to help reduce pits and acne scars?
i had a friend tell me once to use anti aging products to help reduce the scarring on my face from acne. i am only 22 and smoke so i know i should start now to help. i have been to a derma and i am using re-tin a micro and some other face washes. the derma recommended a chemical peel, but i cannot afford that. do you think there is any truth to what my friend said, what over the counter product is best? thank you!
in my opinion nothing helps unless you get cosmetic surgery or a cosmetic procedure. They can now drop a tiny bit of acid in the hole, pit, with a toothpick and it reinjures the area. It heals and brings the scar tissue up, making the pit smaller. Some of the pits will completely go away. It is called a TCA Cross. You may want to do like me and order it on ebay. It’s $200 a pop at the dermatologist’s office. Cheap on ebay.
When should you start using an anti aging moisturizer?
I’m 21 and I have been using Proactive for a few years now. when should i start using the anti aging stuff?
I was reading about 7 beauty sins on yahoo and it said you should start using starting in your 20′s. Here’s the link: http://shine.yahoo.com/event/the-thread/7-beauty-sins-to-avoid-2329527/
What is the best anti-aging skin care / moisturizers for men?
I was considering using Loreal Men Expert, but I’m not really too sure about it. It seems a little too commercialized and because of that I have my doubts.
I’ve also been considering using Nivia for Men
Can you give me any advice? I’m going on 25 in the end of January and I really need to start using some sort of anti-aging product, while I’m still relatively young.

Can I use my anti-aging facial moisturizer on my eyes also?
I think I read somewhere that people shouldn’t waste their money buying anti-aging eye cream and to just use your facial moisturizer on their eyes too. Is this true? I know the skin around the eyes is different than the skin on the rest of my face. So does it need it’s own treatment?
Your eyes are very sensitive and certain chemicals will damage your eye. Most of your facial beauty prods. say avoid the eye area. If so wash out asap with cold water. I would advice to stick with using specific prods. for the eyes and not chance your eye sight saving a few bucks here and there by using your face moisturizer instead.
If you use your ring finger instead it’s been said that it’s the best one as you put less pressure around your eye compared to your other fingers. and apply inward instead of outward. Less wrinkles to form.
Best affordable anti-aging moisturizers?
Try Oil of Olay at Walmart or Anew from Avon.
What is the best anti-aging moisturiser for oily/blackhead prone skin?
I’m 29 nearly 30 and I need a not-too-expensive cream/lotion that will combat ageing but give me spots/blackheads.
Is it bad for a teen girl to use moisturizers with anti-aging ingredients in them…?
I’m looking into skincare products, and I noticed that some of them (the ones I’m most interested in) have retinol. I’ve heard retinol is an anti-aging ingredient…. Is that only for older people? I’m only fifteen, so would it be okay for me to use it? HELP!
Do NOT use anti aging skincare when you are under 25 years old. It does not prevent wrinkles at all. You may think that starting early is a good idea, but it will only cause problems when you get older.
The reason is, anti aging products have ingredients in them that are too strong for your skin. Retinol is basically a collagen-boosting ingredient. Why use a more expensive cream when the collagen fibres in your skin are perfect at your age? In addition, it is actually possible for your skin to “get used to” anti aging products. If you start using anti-aging skincare, then by the time you’re 35 your body will have a resistance to it. Just imagine your skincare products not working when you’re 35, how bad would that be?
Finally, a lot of these anti-aging skincare products are too heavy for young skin. That could possibly cause whiteheads to form along your eye area (where skin is the thinnest). I have these from using a very rich and heavy vitamin E cream when I was only 12 years old. And trust me, they aren’t pretty.
The most important thing at your age is HYDRATION. Not anti-aging. Drink plenty of water, avoid too much sun, use sunscreen, wash your face (especially after wearing makeup), use a toner, use moisturizer.
i personally love this product:
http://www.biotherm-usa.com/_us/_en/facecare/index_prod.aspx?prdcode=049103&CatCode=AXE_FACE_CARE%5EF1_VIS_EYE%5EF2_VIS_EYE_Treatment
it is an eye cream with no anti-aging ingredients, but with lots of ingredients that will hydrate the eye area. That’s what you need at your age, a hydrator.
I hope that helped!
anti-aging moisturizers?
I am 25 and looking for a good anti-aging cream/moisturizer to get a jump start of taking care of aging in my skin. Any suggestions of good creams ?
I love L’Oreal Skin Genesis Serum and the Regenerist line from Olay. They go on smooth and really moisturize. But honey, really, at 25 you really don’t need to start using anti-aging products. Well, anyways hope I help and good luck
Is using anti-aging products bad for a young face?
I’m 18, and I live with my mom and uncle, and both are 40+ so all the moisturizers that they have, are anti-aging moisturizers. Is that bad for my face? Will it ruin my face in the long run? Or is it a good idea to start early?
It won’t do your skin any harm at all, but you don’t NEED to be using it. Your skin doesn’t actually start the aging process til you hit about 25, which is the recommended age to start using anti-aging care products. They work by encouraging the natural production of collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of your skin.
However, using a sun tan lotion all year round will protect you from pre-mature aging, and is a very good idea to be using it at any age under a normal moisturiser.
what age exactly shall i use olay total effect anti aging moisturizer?
im 22 now by the way…and dont know if i could use this product please help thanks
You can start using that product whenever you like, as long as it agrees with your skin type and you like the product, but it will NOT fend off wrinkles and lines completely. Yes, it will moisturize your skin and help hold on to your natural moisture, but HEREDITY, plays a very big part on your facial wrinkles…..Drinking plenty of water, sleeping well, and eating properly AND wearing a sunscreen(15spf+) EVERY DAY is a big help in maintaining good skin, too, by the way.
Anything equal to Olay Total Effects anti-aging moisturizers?
It seems like their moisturizers have everything you need so I bought them and I don’t think it works out. I already have oily skin and this product has made it more oily. When I have it on it’s more than dewy, it looks like my face is too shiny. Also I know it is supposed to give a glow, but I think it makes my face too red..is that normal?? Does anyone know anything that works just as good that is more suited towards skin on the oily side? It’s a shame because it seemed this product worked for anybody and now I feel like an idiot. I know it’s not my fault, but it just seems ‘another thing gone work for me’. I was contemplating Neutrogena, does that work as well?
is not a good sign that your skin gets red with this products obviously your allergic to some ingredient so I suggest to stop using it I suggest to used a cream called merlot face cream is made of grape seed it helps to prevent future wrinkles & erase if you already have is fragrance free also very gentle on sensitive skin you can buy it on Walgreen’s stores but if you don’t feel to try it just look for a anti wrinkle cream that is fragrance free so your face doesn’t get red or oily. merlotskincare.com
What is the difference between Arbonne anti-aging and not-so-basic products?
I currently use an anti-aging moisturizer on my face and neck/chest. I want to reduce any fine lines that are beginning to show (I’m only 25), and to prevent future lines from appearing. I spend almost ZERO time in the sun at the moment, but I will be moving to Oahu in around six months, so I’ll be needing a daily treatment with SPF. I have dark circles under my eyes (not sleep-related, I’m drinking more water), but otherwise my skin is fairly healthy.
I was going to first try “Anti-Aging Nutrimin C RE9 Corrective Eye Creme” and “NutriMinC RE9 REactivating Facial Serum.” Would that take care of my daily face care? I was also looking at the “Intelligence Rejuvenating Cream” – would it matter if I ordered the older version that isn’t “intelligence”?
Would you recommend the anti-aging line or the not-so-basic line? Or a combination? I just want a *simple* morning routine to keep my skin healthy.
I REALLY like Arbonne’s policy on animal testing.
I am an Area manager with Arbonne.
I personally think that you should try out both lines and see how they work for you. You should be given the opportunity to try them in your home for a few days before you order. If you do not have a consultant that will allow this let me know. I am 29 and have been on the NutriminC line for about a year. It has done wonders for me. I had some starts of line around my eyes and consistently getting blemishes. Needless to say I never received compliments. I am now getting compliments on how beautiful my skin is.
I believe that the best line for you would be the NutriminC see because it is highly concentrated in vitamin C, the daily moisturizer contains an SPF 8 as well as it is packed with AHA and BHA’s which are the antioxidants that fight off the effects of the sun. If you want a simple routine with the NutriminC line I would reccomend the daily cleanser, the eye cream, the serum and the moisturizer. The serum is the product that will address the dark circles under your eyes.
I wouldn’t recommend the rejuvinating cream unless you have some severe issues like rosacia, or psoriasis that you want to treat. You need to be careful about ordering old products they do have a shelf life and can go bad. You have no idea how old it is if it is not new. I would, however, recommend that if you want a fabulous masque to use the Intelligence Thermal Fusion Exfoliating mask it is wonderful.
A couple of things to think about while it is true that Arbonne does not test on animals and is great but even more important is that they don’t have to because there is nothing in the products that can’t be put on humans to begin with. Another thing that you will not find in Arbonne’s products and is the second leading cause of the signs of aging is Mineral Oil. It acts like a liquid saran wrap on the skin so not only does it not allow great ingredients to penetrated and do their job but the skin can’t breath and release toxins and it can clogs pores. Make sure you have the opportunity to purchase at wholesale which will save you atleast 35% but you can get up to 50% off. If you want to see some before and after picture of people using our products let me know. If you have any others questions also just let me know.
You are absolutely right that now is the time to start preventative measures. Only 10% of the visual signs of aging are hereditary that means we can control 90%
Hope this helps
Is it bad for a teenager to wear anti-aging moisturizers?
I am 15 and I think I have wrinkles after years of picking my skin( bad i know but i can’t stop) i think it has caused me to get wrinkles and my skin is really dry from all the face wash, makeup, and tea tree oil i use. I have made a new years resolution to stop picking so I will try and stop this stupid habit, but it’s the worst on my forehead and I would like to stop wrinkling.
Nope, it’s not bad though, but it’s not so much necessary for teenagers, it’s better if they are used after 30s.
What are some ingredients to look for when purchasing dept. store anti-aging moisturizer?
I just want to buy some at Target…what are good anti-aging ingredients I should make sure are listed? Any suggestions or good brands you know of? Thanks!
water, spf sun block moisterizer. oil of olay, neutragena, garnier or aquaphor or aveeno are good products at Target. or Walmart.
( try clinique or prescriptives for higher end).
for real anti aging, stay out of sun, use Retin A for zits/wrinkles, moisterizing soaps, no antibacterial or triclosan or deodorant soaps on face… dove is good one, soap removable or non waterproof makeup, you want it off. good luck.
I’m 17, what anti-aging moisturizer would right for a teen like me?
I’ve always heard to prevent now so you won’t have to fix later. I feel like starting now but all these anti-aging products that I see, are for people who are above the ages of 25. Is there something out there that’ll work for me right now? Even though I am young?
Looking for a good yet affordable anti-aging moisturizer?
I’m looking for something affordable that i can find at Ulta, Target or Walmart that would be good for anti-aging stuff… firms, reduces wrinkle, all that good stuff.
At what age should I start using anti-aging skin care products?
I just turned 26 and I’m wondering at what age I should trade in my regular moisturizer with sunscreen for an anti-aging one with sunscreen and a night anti-aging moisturizer.
Which ever age you truly start to age and get wrinkles. Usually its around your 30′s.
Is there an anti-aging moisturizer or a moisturizer in general that I should use?
I’m 25. Not sure if it would be a good investment to buy an expensive lotion or a waste of money. I have a bunch of moisturizers from when I was 22 and paranoid about aging, but its stuff that came from places like Walmart and I havent thrown them away yet……does lotion have a life span? All answers appreciated.
all products have a lifespan as far as i know. there should be expiration dates on the bottles usually on the back by the label or on the bottom. if it’s too faded to read or you can’t find one then toss it. it usually will just have the month and year. nivea Q10 wrinkle cream in the jar along with regular use of cocoa butter, aloe, and vitamin E are some of the best defenses against aging. avoid too much sun, use sunscreen. Q10 is vitamin A so a supplement with vitamin A is helpful. be aware however although it’s great to make skin stay young and supple, lookup the side effects of using the creams and don’t overuse vitamin A. you may find that your eyes get really light sensitive and make sure you’re not allergic or get rashes from it. i always used Q10 along with a lotion containing cocoa butter, aloe, and E everyday and always got compliments about my skin. now i’m a mommy and don’t have the time to do such lol. best of luck and it worked for me.
What is a real good anti-aging moisturizer for your face???? Nothing that is crazy priced?
Aveeno Positively Ageless. It’s silky smooth and nongreasy. It’s about $18 a bottle. I use it twice a day and it lasts a month or two.
How do you know which Olay anti-aging moisturizer to buy?
They have about a million different product lines; regenerist, definity, total effects, professional… etc. and by the the label they all look like they do the same thing. Which one should I use?
I use Olayme anti-aging monsterizer, especially for the Halloween season.
Will using anti-aging moisturizers as a teen help prevent wrinkles?
I’m 15, will using a daily anti-aging moisturizer help prevent wrinkles? I know wrinkles are an inevitable part of life, but will it at least help prolong the years I live without wrinkles?
anti aging moisturizer aren’t good at your age this can clog your pores
or break you out this face creams tends to be more richer strong for
your skin when you became 20 is the great age to use this products. for now just use a oil free moisturizer spf 15
Neutrogena has great one, drink water, eat healthy,
Dont stress be happy this are the keys for great skin.
Do tinted moisturizers have anti aging elements too? If yes then what is your favorite?
I have dry skin.
Hi there! I tend to use Shiseido – they’re a bit pricey – but I also used Nivea CoQ-10 as well before that – There are a lot of brands – What YOU are looking for in anti-ageing is not just anything that is marked as such, you’re looking for a tinted moisturizer that is “Collagen-Based”. Over time, our skin loses collagen and its’ elasticity. We need to replace this. Also it is softest and most nourishing to skin, especially dry.
- TIP:
Whether you’re spending $15.00 or $150.00 – Make sure to ask the clerk where you’re buying from for one that IS Collagen-based. Don’t take her word for it – Sometimes they say “I think so”….and it isn’t. I learnt from experience.
Have a fantastic day! C
I need a great anti aging vegan moisturizer for my eyes?
Does anybody know if there is a proven brand? I know there are a lot of moisturizers that are vegan but I would like something that gives results, maybe something with alpha hydroxy? My eyes have dark bags and circles on bad days, but are just lined on good days, but I’m only 25. I want to try to do something for my eyes.
There are a few companies I think are great:
Dessert Essence makes an eye serum (Pomegranate Eye Serum)
Mychelle has mostly vegan products, including an eye serum.
Dr. Haushcka’s products are vegan and amazing..
